    LOVELESS
The year is 2012. A rare disease is spreading all over the planet, making people incapable of feeling 'love'.   A group of scientists isolates themselves on a laboratory in the middle of the pacific ocean in order to find a cure, but are instead blamed by the government for creating the disease in the first place. The government starts a series of experiments itself to find a cure but all of them fails and the only thing left is a couple of human beings incapable of feeling anything at all. As a last way out, the government send all of those human beings, "the failed experiments" to attack the scientists' laboratory. You are failed.experiment.0 and this is where your adventure begins.

  4. Flew Fighter

    Flew Fighter

    Horrible Google translated Engrish:
"Flew Fighter" is a vertical scrolling shooting game that you can play with six types of settings according to the skill of the player. The enemy's bullet has become a barrage system filling the screen. There are two kinds of game modes, "normal mode" and "SP mode", difficulty levels are three levels, and there are six types of play patterns depending on the combination of the two. By pressing [←] / [→] on the start screen, you can switch modes and difficulty sequentially (press repeatedly or long press if reaction is dull).
"Normal mode" is an orthodox vertical scroll shooting game with a total of 6 stages (+ α) composition. "SP mode" consists of a boss character 's on parade somewhat across the scene where Zacochara appears. SP mode is one stage without stage division, but many enemies that do not appear in normal mode also appear. Both the normal mode and SP mode, the number of bosses appearing slightly varies depending on difficulty setting.
The difficulty level can be selected from "NORMAL" "HARD" "ACTUAL HELL". NORMAL is the easiest, it's a handy difficulty as a barrage shooting shooter. HARD is a setting for those who are accustomed to NORMAL. The number of enemy bullets increases, and the attack speed of enemies also increases. ACTUAL HELL is a mode that can be said to be a barrage of storms, with more enemy bullets and increased speed. Besides, he also awaits a brutal true boss. Especially, the final battle of ACTUAL HELL is a difficulty without making a mistake even if it is a player who is good at barracks work.
The operation corresponds to the keyboard and joystick. Move your aircraft with the cursor keys and shoot with 【Z】. [X] is "slow", while moving down, the moving speed of your own machine will decrease. [C] is bomb, you can fire as many as the number of bommarks displayed in the upper left of the screen.
Bom gets all the enemy bullets on the screen to disappear at the moment of activation, and after a while it deals damage to surrounding enemies. When shot power is the maximum, the power of Bom will also increase. A certain period of time after the bomb burst and after its own machine is destroyed is invincible.
If you hold down [Z] and [X] at the same time, the style of the shot changes to a wide type (widening forward a wide range) (a normal shot is a straight type that concentrates thermal power nearly directly in front). In many cases, straight type is easier to use, such as boss against boss, but wide type is easier to use when sweeping out Zako that flocks swarming while spreading sideways. The proper use of two types of shots is fundamental to the game.
By taking power up items that appear when you kill a specific enemy, you can step up the power of the shot. The power of the powered up shot will not fall even if your opponent is destroyed or continually enemies.  Continuation times are also unlimited.

Control your ship and destroy enemies. The ship is destroyed when it is hit by a bullet. The body of the enemy has no collision damage.

You can catch the enemy's broken piece. Pieces are stuck to your ship and counterattack to enemies. You can also earn the bonus score by keeping many pieces stuck. Stuck pieces are destroyed when they touch a enemy's bullet.

While holding a slow key, the ship becomes slow and the ship direction is fixed. Stuck pieces are pulled in and you can prevent a crash of them, but the bonus score reduces to one fifth. Enemy's pieces are not stuck while holding this key.

    by SOKURAH
The player pilots a spaceship and battles against 20 waves of alien ships led by a 4 boss creatures that taunts you before each round. Every third round the player can dock to receive extra firepower.

The original game has 5 levels and 1 boss but this remake has 4 times that – 20 levels and 4 bosses.
When (if) you reach level 20 it will repeat indefinitely once you beat it, but it will take lots of skill.
When you get a highscore you can upload your score to the server and see you score compared to other players.

Hints: How to get ahead in Space Fury?
Well, for each wave you have to defeat in increasingly higher amount of enemies than the previously one. When you have killed the amount of enemies required to go to the next level, the game will keep spawning enemies if you leave less than 3 enemies on screen for more than a few seconds, so it’s in your best interrest to kill the enemies as fast as possible. You also get a bonus depending of how fast you complete a wave…so you’d better get killin’ commander. Good luck!

    CONTROLS
    Player 1
Rotate left-right: Cursor keys left and right

  8. Star Castle (Remake)

    ■ NOTE: This resource is merely a mirror of the original over at Tardis.dk.
    · · ·· SPACE FURY ·· · ·
    by SOKURAH
‘Star Castle’ is a space-shooter, where the object is to destroy the central cannon, by shooting through the rotating rings surrounding it – the castle. Heavily defended – the cannon will do what it can to take you out before you can succeed.

    Gameplay description (from Wikipedia)
The object of Star Castle is to destroy the enemy cannon which sits in the center of three concentric, rotating energy shield rings while avoiding or destroying ‘mines’ – enemies that spawn from the core, pass through the energy rings, and then home in on the player’s ship. They can stick back to the shield if the player maneuvers in such a way that a ring is between the ship and the mines. The player-controlled spaceship can rotate, thrust forward, and fire small projectiles. The cannon’s shields are composed of twelve sections each, and each section takes two hits to destroy. Once a section is breached, rings beneath it are exposed to fire.

Once the innermost ring has been breached, the central weapon is vulnerable to attack from the player. However, the player is also more vulnerable at this point, as with the shield rings eliminated, the gun can fire out a large projectile that hisses with white noise. Moreover, the central core tracks player movement at all times. If the player manages to hit the cannon, it explodes violently, collapsing the remnants of the shield rings, and the player is awarded with a nice bonus. Extra ships are awarded every 10.000 points. The next level then starts with a new gun and fully restored shield rings, with the difficulty increased (the mines move faster, the rings rotate more quickly, and the core tracks the player faster).

If the player completely destroys the outermost shield ring, the cannon will create a new one. The middle ring expands to replace the lost outer ring, the inner ring replaces the middle, and a new ring emerges from the core to become the inner ring. Therefore, in order to penetrate the cannon’s defenses, the player must be careful not to completely obliterate the outer ring.

The game will start with three homing mines that will destroy the player’s ship on contact, but as you progress through the game there will be more of them. The mines can be destroyed, but they are very small and difficult to fire on, and the player does not receive points for destroying them. Mines are revived when shield rings regenerate (some variants keep the mines churning constantly so that a new mine respawns from the core as soon as one is destroyed). As the player progresses through the levels, the mines get faster and faster, forcing the player to keep moving to avoid them.

    Installation:
Unpack the ZIP file and you’ll end up with a folder called ‘Star Castle’ that contains the game files. Run the executable file to run the game. The game has been tested and is works on (at least) Windows XP, Vista & Windows 7. The game will write a configuration file to your Document folder. To reset the settings just delete this file.

    Controls:
Use the LEFT and RIGHT keys to control your ship, LEFT CTRL to fire and LEFT ALT to thrust.
All keys can be redefined. Joypad also suported.

    Legal Blurb:
This game is FREEWARE and must remain freeware. The game can generally be distributed however you want, as long as all the files are included and unchanged. It shouldn’t be sold or given away on any kind of compilation without my permission. I would like to ask, that if you’re going to include this game on a CD for a magazine or somewhere else, that you contact me first – I would like to know what kind places my little project goes…also it shouldn’t be asking too much, but then I’d also like a copy of the magazine or CD.

Copyright for the gameidea is held by Cinematronics who made the original arcade game in 1980.
The original game was designed by Tim Skelly and programmed by Scott Boden.

  10. Hydorah

    · · ·· HYDORAH ·· · ·
by LOCOMALITO   STRAIGHT TO THE HEART OF CLASSIC SHMUP PLAYERS
Meropticon has declared war on the Omios star. Take the control of your ship and fly with the space fleet in a campaing to set free invaded planets, destroy enemy bases and discover the misterious force behind the attack. Biomechanical enemies, space creatures, exotic planets and climatic threats are waiting for you, so take the controls of your ship and prepare to die!

    ABOUT THE GAME
Hydorah is a non-linear horizontal shmup with a large library of levels, enemies and unique situations. The difficulty is based on the 80s standards, so it requires practice in order to progress. New weapons are unlocked as you progress through the campaing, while firepower can be increased during the missions. Graphics are visually clean to favor the gameplay, but they're highly polished to show the personality of each level in detail. Gryzor87 used legendary synthesizers to create a huge soundtrack full of retro-futuristic, powerful and sometimes dark themes. Levels design and music has been composed together, so they fit each other like a glove.

    KEY FEATURES
Look and feel of a 16-32 bit game. 16 levels divided into 27 sublevels. 30 bosses and more than 70 minor enemies. Non-linear layout with route selection. Dangers of different nature in each level (more than bullets). Unlockable weapons and power ups and in every mission. Huge Soundtrack with 49 tracks. Secret objects and a very special heroic ending.
    INFLUENCES
Hydorah is the bastard son of a hundred classics. It has the genes of big sagas like Gradius, R-Type, Darius or Turrican but also the ones of not so well-known titles like Enforcer, Space Manbow, Hellfire, X-Multiply, Guardian, Hydefos, Armalyte and more than 100 games from many platforms that have been thoroughly studied to distill the best of them.

    STORIES
Making this game was my childhood dream, its development almost took my sanity, but I finally did it. Hydorah was featured as one of the best freeware games of 2010 by indiegames.com. Musicians from all over the world joined in an initiative to produce a double album with music covers. Hydorah was the first of my games using the sentence "Prepare to die" before a tough boss fight. Super Hydorah, the extended and enhanced version of Hydorah was released in 2017.

  11. TransBot (Remake)

NOTE: This resource is merely a mirror of the original over at Retro Game Geeks.

The Return Of The 'Real' King

Back in 1985 Sega released a game that would eventually go on to be completely ignored by almost everyone. With a concept to try and cash-in on the then huge popularity of 'The Transformers' and arcade games it would be one of the initial batch of titles released for the Master System and part of the small print run of games to be released on small plastic cards instead of just on cart.

Decades later several like minded souls would unite under this banner of under appreciated gem in order to both create the internet's greatest retro site using it's central character as its mascot and supreme overlord and to bring it back for a new audience to discover.

It's taken a while (all good things kinda do), but here is the triumphant return of the king of totally ignored games. Now 3 times its original size and with more Easter Eggs than a sweet shop in March RGG is proud to present this glorious PC remake, courtesy of Kristian Hawkinson. Dreams really do come true!

    So... umm, What's Happening?

It seemed like things were finally starting to get back together after the Nuclear War of the solar year 2,000. People had emerged from their underground shelters. They built new towns, new forms of transportation. An all new society.

But something has gone wrong. DALAUS, an artificial intelligence computer left over the now defunct regime is creating a dictorial empire. DALAUS is already gaining control control of one city - and it's rumoured that many of the guards are actually working for DALAUS. The only thing that can stop this treacherous takeover is the new CA-214, a sophisticated transforming combat astro-plane. The only person who can pilot this high-performance machine... is YOU!

You'll have to destroy the enemy's ARM CARRIER. Then try to find DALAUS's hidden fortress and then destroy ELGRAMZON to rid the Earth of this evil influence forever.

    So Then... What's The Mission?

Collect keys to open up the enemies base's then fight the guardian inside. Destroy the Arm Carrier's in order to obtain more powerful weapons with which to destroy your foes and secure freedom for the planet. Defeat waves of enemies

Who will stop at nothing to end you and who will fight hard to keep hold of the keys you need to complete your mission.
