    Version +6DH (Onslaught)

You are a space pirate from the planet SYNOX. The planet is inhabited mainly by professors and scientists, so the place is technically more advanced than any other planet in the local universe... with one exception - artificial intelligence has not yet been created. Third generation computers are still the "In Thing". Last week, while cruising in your FSD8211 Twin Engine Turbo Charged Rotoblade with aerofoil at no extra charge, you heard a message from your illegal sideband radio. It was something to do with the scientists who went on a discovery mission to the neighbouring planet. They said they had found a substance that could be extremely useful in technological advances. It is a microscopic lifeform that has two states that can be identified as on or off. It was ideal for Organic Artificially Intelligent Computers. They said they could not bring it back with them because there was so much of it, also that they had arranged a convoy of 21 Cargo Ships to transport it back to SYNOX. They called this MISSION FX... Then the radio cut out... BUT! never fear, you had heard enough, you sat down to think for a second, then the penny dropped, the potential for nicking this stuff was enormous!!!! So off you trot in your spacecraft in an attempt to stop MISSION FX! YOU TAKE OVER NOW! Oh yeah, by the way, the Ships carrying this organic stuff have high security protection. So you had better have a decent joystick.

Metro Blitz plays like a single screen Defender. You fly your ship around and shoot aliens to try and defend your city, similar to Missile Command.
  5. Version [EasyFlash]

Another World is a side-scrolling run 'n' gun game for the Commodore 64 by X-Ample. This version has been EasyFlash converted by Master.

Combat Crazy / Warbringer is a side-scrolling run'n'gun game for the Commodore 64. This version has been +7 trained and EasyFlash converted by Master.
  7. Galencia Fighter from Galencia and Galencia Khaos Sphere for the C64
  8. In this video I do a little comparison of the Defender game on both the C64 and the VIC-20. There even seems to be a huge difference in game play when it comes to the NTSC and the PAL C64 version in favour of the NTSC version.
  9. This time no game character but a game that has been ported many times. It is amazing to see that some ports even copy the handwritten Williams by 'handwriting' their own or the company name. Then there's the explosions that are all very similar. The game screen layout including the radar - which does not really seem to work properly in the c64 version I got - is very very similar for quite a number of the ports. The two Odyssey2 games that flash in between somewhere don't really belong but do resemble the gameplay just a tad. But I had it connected so I thought ...'what the hell'...
  10. Another Hewson game played on the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 and the Amstrad CPC: Anarchy a great shmup / puzzle game that is surprisingly addictive and is very playable even today.

    Resembles Centipede - C64 (Re)Edition (HD)

Had to redo this video. In this tribute video I take a look at all the Centipede(like) games I could find on my C64 ending with the original Atari Centipede port for the C64. Have fun. Youtube claimed that this version containing music created by Mr Scruff (a demo music track included in Windows Vista) was violating copyrights so I had to change the soundtrack! Regardless of YT preventing fair use - check out his albums! If you want to check out my other 'resembles videos' take a look at the Tribute playlist.

River Raid - Coleco vs MSX - a comparison (SD)

Gameplay footage of the Colecovision game as well as the MSX game. The game is virtually identical on both platforms. The Colecovision joystick makes it a little harder to play but it is a good version. River Raid on my Colecovision vs is a response to xTHExSTIGx's highscore challenge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuA6srj6FuY&feature=channel_video_title

Mark plays Gemini Wing - C64 (HD)

Gemini Wing, excuse the plural in the video title, was also released on the Commodore 64 home computer system and is actually quite a decent conversion done by Imagitec published by Virgin on the Mastertronic Plus label. It was also released as a tape game as well as cartridge. Mind you you needed to reload the level each time you played it! Quite a pain to do from tape. Bound to fail sometime. The Disk version was much user friendly although loading in the level each time you had to restart it can be somewhat of a pain and causes needles wear and tear on the 1541 drive.
  14. This mode does exist in this C64 version and also on the Atari 8-bit version of the game! The C64 port of the game shown here running on a PAL C64G (the German Aldi version with the C128 CPU) playing with two Suzo Arcade Sticks in port 1&2. I run the program on the 1541UltimateII, the first version is trained and halfway the video I realize that and load up the cartridge version that is unmodified. Intro soundtrack by Andy C. aka SynthMonkey aka ZombieAndy1979 http://www.youtube.com/user/zombieandy1979
  15. After playing the wickedly hard Atari 2600 version and the Intellivision port I tried the game on the c64 which is the native platform I played this game on the first moment I laid eyes on it. For me this is the version I am best at - I use the Suzo Arcade Stick which is an excellent stick for this game on the C64. I dare you to beat my highscore on the C64 port of the game 'Beamrider' if you can please try to make a video response and reply to this video! Beamrider is a game by Activision and it has also been ported to other platforms like the Colecovision, Intellivision, Atari 8 bit, Commodore 64. The scoring seems to be the same on the other platforms, yet the difficulty seems to be a little different so scores may not be comparable across the various systems. Recorded off the computer through a composite video lead with Archos 605 Media recorder - zoomed in every so slightly to accommodate the widescreen format but with the correct aspect ratio. If you do a video response real hardware or emulation is fine. I will ask Interghost to put this C64 challenge video on his Retro Records blog. You can find that great initiative for competitive arcade high scores here: http://interghosthouse.blogspot.co.uk/ Score: 23750, Sector 13 @ Level 1, 3 lives
  16. Minestorm (C64) A very nice shmup, originating on the Vectrex and this is a homebrew remake on the C64. Very enjoyable.

Playing the March 21st 2015 release of Commando Arcade SE, a special arcade edition of the reworked version by Nostalgia. http://nostalgia.c64.org/ I'd easily give this 9/10 or even 10/10. 18. I take a first look, try out this game for the first time and give my feedback on it. Published 1987, public domain Graphics & code by Alan Bond Language English Genre Shoot'm up - Space Invader Mind you I only sample the games here. Check them out yourself!
  19. Ad Infinitum on the C64 by Mr Chip Software Music, graphics and code by Shaun Southern A great little shmup with a varied number of aliens attacking you, nice attack patterns and declining fuel and overheating laser add to the difficulty of it al. Mind you I only sample the games here. Check them out yourself!
  20. Action Force is a nice helicopter shooter with elements of fort apocalypse, choplifter and defender thrown in. Action on Protection is a cool pixel perfect navigation and maneuvering game in which you have to navigate a space ship through caverns filled with all sorts of nasties. Actually not a shmup but close enough. Excellent navigational 'puzzles'. Mind you I only sample the games here. Check them out yourself!
  21. Juno First is a game of the vertical shoot 'em up variety arcade game developed by Konami and released in 1983. It was licensed to Gottlieb in the United States. It's similar to Space Invaders, Galaga and the game Beam Rider. In this video I compare and play a couple of the home ports. - C64 - MSX - 2600 Check out what I think of them.
  22. In this little series 'Classic Cartridges Back To Back' I will be looking at two different ports of a particular game and choose which one I like best. This could be two ports on the same system(!) or on two different systems. This time it's Galaxians on the C64 and the VIC-20. Which port do I like best? Come check it out.
  23. I am quite fond of Gyruss - it's a Galaga/Galaxian like shooter that originated in the arcades and was ported to many home systems including the C64 in 1984 released by Parker Brothers. I've made videos on this game before but today I tried to beat my all time highscore and I actually did. Can you beat mine? C64 NTSC Suzo Arcade Stick - mashing the fire button like crazy

Katakis is the story of the planet with the same name. It was once a booming paradise for researchers, scientists and inventors. But always have the humans been the victim of their own intelligence. So the inhabitants of Katakis created fantastic machines, that should facilitate life. But the technical wonders developed their own life and devastated the planet. Now you are called upon to end this going-on. With a DS-H75 Eaglefighter, which can be upgraded with a satellite and different extra weapons, you try to get into the centre of the machine town and to destroy the mechanical enemies. You control this spaceship through altogether 12 levels, whereby at the end of each level a huge end boss waits for you to be defeated. Collisions with asteroids, flying enemies, ground troops and the background need to be avoided.
